The Cameron Road Hog Lived Right There
A hog turned up in an Athens roadway. Its trip ended at the residence it lived at, just off the road.

On Oct. 9, a hog was in the roadway on Cameron Road in Athens, Ohio. That’s a traffic problem with considerably more personality than a pothole.
Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded, according to The Post’s Oct. 20 police blotter. The hog moved off the road toward a residence. Deputies determined it lived there, and it was returned to its pen.
Road. Residence. Pen. A three-stop itinerary that still required a sheriff’s office response.
The detail that gets me is the residence. A hog in the road sounds like the start of a complicated search. Then it heads toward a house, and the deputies determine that’s where it lives. Well, that narrows things down.
The blotter doesn’t say how the hog got out or who put it back. So there’s no basis for a dramatic escape story or a heroic account of pig-wrangling. Just a hog where it shouldn’t be, followed by a hog where it should.
That’s probably the best possible ending to a roadway-hog call. It also means the hog’s big trip made the police blotter without getting very far from home.
