ChatGPT can now turn notes or an outline into a slide deck you can edit with other people. That sounds useful. Before you go looking for the button, though, check your plan.

OpenAI announced ChatGPT Slides on October 16, 2026, and it’s still rolling out. Access requires an eligible Pro, Business, or Enterprise account with Space access, on the web or desktop. Free and Plus aren’t included in the announced rollout. Even if you have a qualifying plan, that doesn’t mean the feature has reached your account yet.

What does it do? You can give ChatGPT a conversation, files, or an outline and ask it to make an editable presentation. OpenAI says you can then change the slides yourself, ask for a specific revision, work on the deck with other people in real time, and present or export it. On the web, the export choices are PowerPoint, PDF, and Google Slides.

Say you’re putting together a community-group update. You could provide your meeting notes and ask for a short presentation covering what got done, what’s next, and which decisions still need to be made. Then you’d go through it and fix what ChatGPT misunderstood. It can assemble slides from your notes. It cannot know that the number you typed in your notes was wrong.

OpenAI’s Slides instructions say you can ask ChatGPT in Work to make the deck or choose Create > Slide in Space. You can also ask it to shorten a particular slide rather than starting over because one page turned into a small-print contract.

The price changes the calculation. OpenAI lists Pro plans starting at $100 a month. Business Standard costs $25 per user per month, or $20 per user per month billed annually, and requires at least two paid seats. Enterprise pricing is custom. If your workplace already has access and you make presentations regularly, this is worth a look. If you need slides twice a year, it’s harder to justify paying for a plan just to try it.

There are smaller catches, too. Comment-only access isn’t available at launch. On some Windows desktops without a required component, local AI slide creation and editing use PowerPoint files instead of collaborative Slides; Windows 10 doesn’t support that component. OpenAI directs affected users to cloud mode or the web. And before you share anything, check the wording, figures, layout, and exported file. A deck that looks finished can still be wrong.

This isn’t a substitute for knowing what you’re presenting. But turning rough material into slides you can actually revise with other people? That’s a reasonable use for AI. The less reasonable part is discovering that the presentation feature requires a much more expensive plan than the one you already pay for.
